CMBM Model

The Center for Mind-Body Medicine model is a mind-body therapy approach, emphasizing small group work and self-care techniques.

The model, developed by Dr. James Gordon, has been implemented for nearly three decades across the U.S. and globally, and is supported by scientific research confirming its effectiveness (Evidence-Based Research). The model has been proven to help restore balance in stressful situations, manage trauma and post-trauma, foster personal resilience, and prevent burnout, illness, and the development of secondary trauma among therapists. The model advocates for strengthening mental resilience on both individual and community levels, and for creating alternative communities.

The model includes therapy groups, workshops, and training programs designed to help individuals cope with stress, anxiety, and emotional distress resulting from trauma and significant life crises.

In the groups, participants engage in a workshop or group therapy session that involves emotional, cognitive, and behavioral processing, as well as the acquisition of tools and skills that strengthen personal resilience, promote effective coping, facilitate a return to functionality, and support healing. The method is based on a combination of MBSR (Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction, developed by Professor Jon Kabat-Zinn) and MBCT (Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy).

The Center in Israel operates in collaboration with the international American center (CMBM), which has trained the faculty members since 2004 in the methods it developed.
