The CMBM model developed by Dr. Jim Gordon of the Center for Mind-Body Medicine, Washington, DC. The small group model is based on mind-body techniques and emphasizes both self care and self empowerment. This evidence based model has been implemented for more than three decades across the USA and worldwide, accompanied by scientific research validating its effectiveness. Research on groups using this model have shown its effectiveness in helping to restore balance in stressful situations, cope with trauma and post-trauma, develop personal resilience, and prevent burnout, illness, and secondary trauma development among both mental health professionals, teachers, firefighters, medical teams and more. In these groups, participants gather for an intensive workshop or weekly group meetings during which emotional, cognitive, and behavioral processing takes place in a supportive and safe environment. The acquisition of tools and skills that contribute to strengthening personal resilience, effective coping, return to functioning, and recovery is a key focus. The center in Israel operates in close cooperation with the International American center (CMBM), which has trained faculty members in Israel since 2004. This international collaboration ensures that our methods are at the forefront of mind-body interventions.
